Best of
After Work Weinbars

How to recognize a good After Work wine bar? Sure: By the VDP.Wines on the winelist. But there are also a lot of other things that make a bar a perfect after work place.

Relaxed atmosphere, smooth music, pleasant people and also the one or other snack for the small hunger between 2 glasses - where can you find such wonderful places? We have looked around for you between Garmisch and Flensburg. The result is a - of course very subjective - selection of 14 After Work Bars across Germany. If you know a wine bar that has VDP.Wines on offer and you think it belongs on the best list, just email us. We'll check it out and maybe add it to our list.

Berlin

Bar Freundschaft

"We are a pup with wine, schnapps, without cocktails but enough space for dates, tastings and the cultivated evening drink. There are also small things to eat so that you don't get drunk so quickly," says sommelier Willi Schlögl, a regular in the gastronomic scene and co-owner of the "Friendship" in Berlin. With a giant round bar for 40 people in the centre and several standing places, the bar is very communicative and ideal for drinking a glass with friends after work - or making new friends.

Mauerwinzer

28 VDP.Winegrowers all over Germany can be tasted at the Mauerwinzer, so that the German word "Feierabend" gets a completely different meaning here again. With the food the bar holds it like with the wines: Only the best is served. Handcrafted German organic cheese, ham and sausage from selected butchers from wine regions and tarte flambée with fine ingredients, fresh from the stone oven. In addition daily traditionally baked bread of the bakery Mälzer, the 1899 created first Rhineland bakery of Berlin. So don't just bring your friends to the After Work Wine - also enjoy your meal!

Rutz Bar

The "Rescue of German Food Culture" is the winking goal of the entire Rutz team in their wine bar. In a vinophile ambience and casual atmosphere, traditional regional dishes are served on the ground floor. Here you can also satisfy your appetite for a snack in between. No multi-course menus, but also no fast food. The wine list is identical to that of the restaurant, but scores particularly well with the wide range of open wines on offer. The offer also includes wines from 25 VDP.Wineries.

Of course everyone is wide awake now. Looking forward, to drink VDP.Pyramids - and to a sommelier who was awarded the VDP.Traubenadler Sommelier in 2017. Emma 2

"Enjoying begins with feeling good" is the motto of Rainer Podzuck, owner of EMMA 2 in Essen. And indeed, this wine bar, which is also a shop, has a very, very pleasant atmosphere: tasteful, original and authentic. People who were here not only after work, but by profession, i.e. gastronomy and wine journalists, are full of praise for the delicious wines and dishes, including wines from 29 VDP.Wineries - from Feinschmecker to Meininger, Gerolsteiner Wein Places to Gault Millau. Just a moment ago in the office on the Binnenalster or in the digital agency in Altona - and now already in the Black Forest. Or in the Black Forest Bar. The classic bar with Schwarzwald Twist has 4 VDP.Estates from Baden on its menu in addition to its special Black Forest Drinks. Weinladen St. Pauli, Hamburg & Köln Südstadt

Whoever arrives here after work - whether in Hamburg or Cologne-Südstadt - may not always be sure whether for many people present the whole day is after work. Or whether Work and Life are not one for them. Be that as it may, the atmosphere in the wine shop of Sommeliere Stephanie Döring is always very young and very relaxed. This is also reflected in her philosophy "wine without dress code".
This is not about prestige and renown, but exclusively about wine, really good wine that tastes good. E.g. from the approx. 20 VDP.Estates who are on the menu in the wine shop.

Owner Emrah Isitman, who also offers creative cuisine, has a selection of 25 VDP.Wineries on his wine list - so the evening can get longer.

Remagen

Interieur NO. 253 at the Arp Museum

Interieur No. 253 and the Arp Museum are located in Rolandseck railway station near Remagen. The station is a classicist jewel from the middle of the 19th century and has been a place for famous artists from all over the world for decades. Inspiring, however, also for the after-work wine drinker, who can enjoy 31 VDP.Wines in this extraordinary mixture of wine bar, bistro and restaurant. And not only that. According to Gault Millau: "Freshness and ripeness, great names and original finds at extremely reasonable prices. The offer is dotted with "I" because you can take the bottles home for 12 to 14 € cheaper - some things are more expensive on Ebay."
